In turn, much of the work in these fields has drawn on computational (and neurological) accounts of mind and memory to explain how information-processing activities shape the ways in which we understand ourselves and our social worlds. As noted earlier, the C-I model also embraces the legacy of cognitivebehavior modification.

In this vein, at a point when Casey seems to be feeling sad, but also backing off from those feelings, her social worker may proceed along the lines of commenting on Casey's reluctance to "feel sorry," letting her know that feeling sad and sorrowful is a signal that one needs contact and comfort.
